A passionate songwriter and entertainer, Luke DeRoy plays "soul-folk," evoking with it a heat warm with self-compassion as the jazzy/vocal guitar combo emits a message of compassion, inclusion, and community. As a young kid in Amherst, MA, Luke spent his time listening to his father play guitar. When his cousin got a guitar, 14-year-old DeRoy begged his father for one, too — and he hasn’t put it down since. After pursuing music at Holyoke Community College where he found jazz and a creatively wealthy community, he spent two years at Berklee College of Music before forming the LDT, an important vehicle for Luke's songwriting and passion for collaboration, seeking out an organic sound in the digital age. The Luke DeRoy Trio includes percussionist Ian Haas from Rockland, MA (a member of hip-hop/jazz group, Mixed Race Mixtape, and R&B/funk set-up, Ballads & Softcore Porn,) and guitarist Josh Hirst of funk outfit, Fat Bradley.
